College Ministry
The staple of our campus ministry is our Sunday evening student service held at 6:00 p.m. whenever UM is in session (last Sunday in August through mid-December; mid-January through early May). The student Eucharist is followed by a free student supper on the Chapel patio. Our Sunday evening student service is done in partnership with a local Lutheran pastor, the Rev. Dr. Arnold Perry.
An
efficiency apartment at the Episcopal Church Center houses a student who serves
as Chapel Intern. The Chapel Intern cooks the weekly student suppers.
Every
year students graduate and leave us and new students join us. The nature
of the student community is constantly in flux. Therefore, the types of
activities we do in addition to the weekly student worship services and
volunteering for Habitat for
Humanity, volunteering for Coastal Clean-up, movies in the Chapel library,
going to the cinema, visiting the Holocaust Memorial on

While
there are several religious organizations on campus, most do not have a formal
worship space. The Chapel of the Venerable Bede is the only
Because of the Chapel’s excellent acoustics, many students from the Frost School of Music use the Chapel for their recitals. Music fraternities and sororities also like to perform in the Chapel.
The UM/Canterbury Preschool, serving the entire University community, is a partnership between the University and the Chapel.
